Keeping your workspace neat, so you stay productive

My workspace is where I spend the majority of my time throughout the day. It is my favorite place to be, even if I’m not “working”. My workspace consists of my desk that holds my computer, two monitors, speakers, and mouse and keyboard. I don’t have the typical Getting Things Done setup with an in-basket, wire racks, or a desk phone to answer calls. I do all my work on my computer for practically everything. It holds all of my information and is right at my fingertips. I also used to have a calendar to write all my long-term tasks on but I took it down as I wasn’t using it as much as I should’ve. My keyboard and mouse take up most of my usable desk space. When I need to write out an assignment or complete a problem on a sheet of paper, I just move them off to the side so I have the most space I possibly can. Sometimes clutter can be frustrating. I usually have a coffee on it or a glass of water to quench my thirst throughout the day and sometimes some leftover papers or sticky notes. I make a mental note to take care of all my trash whenever I stand up from my workspace. If your workspace isn’t neat and tidy, your work won’t be as productive as you should. I like to work with the least amount of distractions. To keep me focused I’ll play ambient study music from my speakers. There’s not too much of a filing system on my desk because it’s all in my school bag in folders. Keeping a clean workspace and taking care of it will lead to increased productivity.
